GOTR (Girls On The Run) is a new after school program that is led by Ms. Bitterman that is for track and it is only for girls. Girls on the Run leaders are Ms. Bitterman, Mrs. Lank, Ms. Denise and Ms. Sara. Girls On The Run is held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:40 to 5:00. At Girls on the Run, the first class we played a game to learn each other's name, then we started to do exercises and run laps around the school. Every session we run a different amount of laps from four to ten laps and try to build our connection together; being closer friends. We trained to run a 5k race in Fairfield on Saturday, June 4. Only third, fourth and fifth grade students can join. There are thirteen girls on the run from Mauro-Sheridan. According to its website, GOTR helps build social, emotional and physical skills in girls while encouraging healthy habits for life. By: Crosby B.
Here at MASH we welcome Mr. D, an eighth grade math teacher. Mr. D thinks teaching at MASH is very nice and got a college degree at University of Florida. Mr. D. thinks his class is 100% good and 90% great. Mr. D. also has a hobby of ultimate frisbee (frisbee + football) and in college he played for University of Florida. Mr. D. is marrying Dr. Maya Stokes who has a PHD degree and studies geomorphology. Mr. D. would like to add an additional nap time for teachers. At first Mr. D. worked in a cubicle and didn’t find it rewarding so he went to Boston to teach and eventually joined us here at MASH. Mr. D. teaches specifically algebra and pre algebra. Mr. D also runs math counts and a monthly baking program and they specifically bake sweets. His favorite color is blue because he says “Are there other colors?” He wishes for the sinks to be fixed, especially in room 309. |
