Mr. Marco Marques is Mauro Sheridan’s football team coach and gym teacher at MASH. Our football team's name is The Falcons, one of the best middle school football teams in Connecticut. On November 8, 2019, the Mauro Sheridan Falcons played the Fair Haven Mustangs for the school football championship. Before the game, each team's record was a 7-0 ( 7 wins and 0 losses). The kickoff was at 6:00 p.m. at Hillhouse football field and was played under the lights. At the end of the game the final score was 26-0, with a Falcons win! Before the big game Coach Marques made sure that the team was ready to play. Coach Marques made turkey and cheese sandwiches on a Portuguese roll, with a banana and a Gatorade for the whole team. The team loved it. Mr. Marques is Mauro-Sheridan’s football coach and he encouraged them to win fairly. One of the plays that got the other team on their toes was called the 36 iso (isolation) . This is a running play where the player runs up the side not in the middle. The Mauro Sheridan players on the Falcons are Bryce Thomas the M.V.P (Most Valuable Player) Christian Parker, Kymere Wright, and Gianni Espada. Bryce Thomas was the M.V.P. with 3 touchdowns and 200 yards of rushing. The team practices at Troup field, and they play the games at Hillhouse's football field. Mr. Marques said “have fun. Do your job. And if everyone does their job right, you usually come out on top.” |
